PRAYERS TO THE HOLY MOTHER OF GOD BY THE NUMBER OF YEARS

Prayers for the number of years is a prayer rule that the elders recommend that every person who does not have the time and opportunity to perform regularly

"The Theotokos Rule". This rule must be followed in order to be honored (deserve, call) and receive a special Protection of the Most Holy Theotokos for yourself or your loved ones.

1. This rule must be followed once a day throughout life. The time for making the rule can be chosen at will and opportunity.

2. Consider how old you are, how many times you must read a prayer to the Most Holy Theotokos at a time in a row. Moreover, after each prayer, you can pray according to your needs (indicate a request to the Most Holy Theotokos). Or read one petition at the end of reading all the prayers according to the number of years.

3. This rule can be done (pray) both in relation to yourself and in relation to another person or your child. In this case, you should read prayers not according to the number of your years, but according to the number of years of the one for whom you pray. Moreover, prayers with petitions for help should sound something like this:

“Holy Mother of God, accept prayers from me, a sinner (sinner) for a servant (servant) of God (God) (name of the one for whom you pray), offered to you, and give him (her) (indicate the request).

4. All prayers are made according to the rosary. In this rule, it does not matter which prayers to read for small “seeds” and which for “large ones”.

Part 27 - How to pray to the Most Holy Theotokos

How to pray at home and in church?

Prayer is a way of communication between God and believers. In their prayers, people share their joys and problems with the Almighty. And many people have a question: “How to offer prayers to God so that he hears and helps?”. This question is especially often asked by disappointed people who have not found the support of the Higher powers. Perhaps they should reconsider their views and think more about the fact that maybe they themselves did something wrong.

In the modern pace of life, it can be difficult for a person to find time to visit the temple to participate in services, but if he needs God's support, he can do it anywhere else. How to pray at home?

How to offer prayers in front of the icon?

God and faith in him is in us, our souls. That is why it is necessary to read prayers not only in a certain place - the temple, but always and everywhere. You can organize the reading of prayers with the help of special religious literature (Prayer Book, Psalter) or in your own words - often this does not matter. The main condition for good prayer is sincerity and a sense of connection with God.

  • It is advisable to purchase a collection of prayers - Prayer Book. It can be of several types - full and short, in the Church Slavonic language and Russian familiar to us. Therefore, choose such a collection of prayers so that it is convenient for you to use it.
  • Before prayer, you should tune in. This means that it is necessary to drive away all bad thoughts, forget about worldly problems. You should also pay attention to appearance, put on a cross, tie a scarf for women.
  • You need to pray before the image of the saint to whom it will be sent. Approach the icon, take a comfortable position, concentrate, bow and cross yourself.
  • Say the text of the prayer slowly, out loud or to yourself, thoughtfully, reverently.
  • Prayers to be read daily. Be sure to read morning prayers and prayers before bedtime. This will help you get closer to God.
  • How to read prayers in church?

    But still, a true Christian must attend church, at least occasionally participate in common prayer. It is this type of prayer that is considered the most powerful, because. when everyone is praying for the same thing, even if one person is distracted, the prayer will not become weaker.

    • It is not recommended to eat before going to church. The only exceptions are the sick and infirm. Appearance is very important: dress modestly, women need to cover their heads and wear a skirt below the knees.
  • When you head to the temple, start reciting a special prayer- going to church, or Our Father.
  • Make the sign of the cross at the entrance to the temple with three small bows.
  • Respect the Feelings of Other Believers. Do not prevent them from performing their prayers.
  • It is forbidden to kneel in the church during prayer.
  • Just as during private prayer, during participation in a common you need to concentrate on what you are doing, forget about worldly affairs. All your thoughts should be about God.
  • All worship is performed by a priest. The task of the parishioners is to listen carefully to what he says, to follow the progress of the prayer.. To make it easier to do this, hold their text in your hands. Parishioners say the words of prayers together with the priest during the Divine Liturgy, the Sunday Vigil and the Easter service.
  • If you want to pray in front of the icon, then you need to come to the temple before the start of the service, approach the icon, say a prayer to this saint, while making the sign of the cross and bowing twice, kiss the icon with your lips. If this is an icon of Christ, then it should be applied to his arm, leg or clothing. If this is an icon of the Mother of God, then to the hand or clothes, and at the Savior Not Made by Hands or the head of John the Baptist - to the hair.
  • How to be heard by God, how to read "Our Father"?

    To be heard by God, you need to believe yourself in what you pray for. It is necessary to pronounce the words of prayers meaningfully, directing your thoughts only to God. It is unacceptable at this moment to be distracted by extraneous things even for a second.

    The prayer "Our Father ..." must be said several times a day, and at times when you have any problems in your life, you need to say it especially often. History knows many cases when the repeated repetition of this prayer stopped conflicts, healed from ailments, expelled the demonic from the souls of people.

    “Our Father, who art in heaven! Hallowed be Thy name, Thy kingdom come, Thy will be done, as in heaven and on earth. Give us our daily bread today; and forgive us our debts, as we forgive our debtors; and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from the evil one. Glory to the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, now and forever and forever and ever. Amen. Lord have mercy. (Thrice) Bless."

    Prayer "Detention"

    This the prayer of the elder Pansophia is read exclusively with the blessing of the priest. It helps to get rid of all evil, protect yourself and your family from hatred, envy, anger, resentment. Prayer is able to protect against violent actions, both physical and energetic.

    Saint Matrona

    Blessed Matrona of Moscow helps in almost all difficult life situations:

    • When needed healing from diseases.
    • For reconciliation and resolution of family problems.
    • When help needed at work or study.
    • For conception child.
    • To gain family happiness.
    • V various life affairs and etc.

    Before turning to Matronushka for help, it would be nice to make a donation: take food to the temple or distribute it to the poor on the street.

    Prayers to Matrona:

    “O blessed mother Matrono, now hear and accept us, sinners, praying to you, who have learned to receive and listen to all those who suffer and mourn in all your life, with faith and hope for your intercession and the help of those who come running, quick help and miraculous healing to everyone;

    and now your mercy to us, unworthy, restless in this world of many vanities, will not be impoverished

    and nowhere finding comfort and compassion in spiritual sorrows and help in bodily illnesses:

    heal our sickness, deliver from the temptations and torment of the devil, passionately fighting,

    help me to carry my worldly Cross, to endure all the hardships of life and not lose the image of God in it,

    keep the Orthodox faith until the end of our days, have strong hope and hope in God and unfeigned love for our neighbors;

    help us, after departing from this life, reach the Kingdom of Heaven with all those who please God,

    glorifying the mercy and goodness of the Heavenly Father, glorified in the Trinity, the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit, forever and ever. Amen."

    A short prayer to the Matrona:

    “Holy righteous old woman Matrono, pray to God for us!”

    Guardian angel

    Everyone has an angel who guards throughout life. The guardian angel has the authority to forgive our sins, to pray for us to the Lord God, not to let us make a mistake. You need to ask him about this by reading:

    “Holy angel of Christ, I pray to you, my holy guardian, given to me to keep my sinful soul and body from Holy Baptism, but with my laziness and my evil habit, I angered your most pure lordship and drove you away from me with all the student’s deeds: lies, slander, envy, condemnation, contempt, disobedience, fraternal hatred, and malice, love of money, adultery, rage, stinginess, gluttony without satiety and drunkenness, verbosity, evil thoughts and crafty, proud custom and fornication rage, having self-lust for all carnal lust. But how can you look at me, or come to me, like a stinking dog? Whose eyes, Angel of Christ, look at me, entangled in evil in vile deeds? Yes, how can I ask forgiveness for my bitter and evil and crafty deed, I fall into it all day and night and at every hour? But I pray, falling down, my holy guardian, have mercy on me, your sinful and unworthy servant (name), be my helper and intercessor for the evil of my opponent, with your holy prayers, and make the Kingdom of God a partaker of me with all the saints, always, and now and forever and ever. Amen."

    Sometimes the help of an Angel looks like a series of some signs, or as if an inner voice prompts a person. If you happen to experience a miracle created by your Guardian Angel, then do not forget to thank him for this with a prayer or in your own words.

    Spyridon Trimifuntsky

    Prayers to the defender of Orthodoxy, Spiridon of Trimifuntsky, helped those in need countless times. Coming from a simple family of peasants, during his lifetime he was a shepherd. After the death of his wife, he was invited to become a priest in one of the Cypriot churches, because. everyone knew about a righteous life, his love for God and pious deeds.

    It was the first kind of activity that became the reason that his image on the icons is not the same as that of other saints - he is depicted in a shepherd's hat.

    Spyridon of Trimifuntsky - saint, who performed a large number of miracles during his lifetime: he resurrected people, cast out the demonic.

    He fulfills any request of the believers. Most often they pray to the Saint:

    There are many prayers to Spyridon Trimifuntsky. If it is difficult for you to memorize them, then refer to the saint in your own words, for example:

    "Holy Spyridon! Pray to God to forgive my sins, give me health, protect me from trouble, enemies and envious people. Begged, blessed Spiridon, our Lord has a comfortable life for me. Amen."

    Mother of God

    The Most Holy Theotokos is the earthly mother of Christ. She patronizes expectant mothers, is the intercessor of children. Prayers dedicated to her help in family matters, conceive and give birth to a healthy child, receive healing, protect yourself and your family from troubles, and not only.

    You can turn to the Mother of God with a prayer:

    “Virgin Mother of God, rejoice, Blessed Mary, the Lord is with you: blessed are you among women, and blessed is the fruit of your womb, as if you gave birth to our souls as the Savior.”

    Before and after meals

    Before eating, one of the family members, as a rule, its head, says the prayer "Our Father ...", the rest repeat it to themselves or in an undertone.

    For the blessing of food and drink for the laity:

    “Lord, Jesus Christ, our God, bless our food and drink with the prayers of Your Most Pure Mother and all Your saints, as if blessed forever and ever. Amen." (And cross food and drink)

    “We thank Thee, Christ our God, for Thou hast satisfied us with Thy earthly blessings; do not deprive us of Your Kingdom of Heaven, but as if in the midst of Your disciples, Thou hast come, Savior, give them peace, come to us and save us.

    Nicholas the Wonderworker

    Nicholas the Wonderworker from infancy showed interest in church affairs. On the recommendation of a relative priest, the parents, who, by the way, were wealthy people, sent little Nikolai to worship. It was to this cause that Nicholas the Wonderworker devoted his entire life. He had to endure a lot for the sake of faith, because. At that time there were persecutions of Christians.

    Nicholas the Wonderworker helps in many difficult life circumstances, students during the examination period, the poor, those who go on a long journey.

    Nicholas the Ugodnik occupies a special place among the saints. He is considered the closest to God. Therefore, prayers to him are the most powerful and fast-acting.

    “Oh, all-holy Nicholas, the servant of the most beautiful Lord, our warm intercessor, and everywhere in sorrow a quick helper. Help me, a sinner and a dull one, in this present life, beg the Lord God to grant me the remission of all my sins, having sinned from my youth, in all my life, deed, word, thought and all my feelings; and at the end of my soul, help me, the damned one, implore the Lord God, all creatures of the Creator, to deliver me from air ordeals and eternal torment, may I always glorify the Father and the Son and the Holy Spirit and your merciful intercession, now and ever and forever and ever. Amen."

    On days of remembrance

    The third, ninth and fortieth days from the date of death of a person in Christianity are considered especially significant. This is due to the special state of mind of the deceased before the Last Judgment.

    Therefore, all 40 days from the date of death of a person they read the Psalter, Prayers for the dead ("cell rule"). These special prayers are added to the obligatory prayers, which are referred to in the prayer book as a memorial for the departed.

    “God of spirits and all flesh, straightening up death and the devil, and bestowing life on Your world; Himself, Lord, give rest to the soul of Your departed servant (Thy servant's dead or Thy servant's dead), [name], in a brighter place, in a greener place, in a quiet place, sickness, sadness and sighing will flee from here. Any sin committed by him (her or them), in word, or deed, or thought, as if good and philanthropic God, forgive. As if there is no person who will be alive and will not sin. You are one without sin, Your righteousness is righteousness forever, and Your word is truth.”

    Prayer to the Mother of God for help in work and affairs

    Any Orthodox Christian cannot imagine his life without prayer and turning to heavenly powers for help. In addition to our Lord Jesus Christ himself, a large number of saints and angels, an Orthodox person turns to the Queen of Heaven - the Most Holy Theotokos. It is difficult to overestimate the help and comfort sent by the Mother of God to the sinful human race for all the centuries of the existence of Christianity. No wonder she was nicknamed the Quick Listener - this means that she hears everyone, even the most sinful person, if he comes to her with sincere repentance and heartache. So, in particular, the prayer of the Most Holy Theotokos for work has great power.

    How to pray for work

    Why does an Orthodox person need God's help in work and affairs? Is it really impossible for a person to cope with his duties on his own? When embarking on any business, a true Christian knows that his success depends, first of all, on the Providence of God and on how pleasing this work is. That is why it is always necessary to start any activity with prayer and invoking God's blessing on your work.

    However, this does not mean at all that you can not make your own efforts and all problems and worries will be resolved by themselves only at the request of a person from God. The worker himself must make every effort to fulfill his duties, to do the job responsibly and with diligence. Many holy fathers give this advice: when doing any work, imagine yourself constantly standing before God, and dedicate the task itself to Him. Agree, it will not be easy to work carelessly at once, if you know that you are working for God and He constantly sees everything.

    A prayer to the Mother of God for help in work can be read both to find a place of work and to successfully complete the tasks. You can resort to reading it:

    • in difficult circumstances;
    • in conflicts in the workplace;
    • in the absence of forces to perform their duties;
    • for the successful completion of the work begun.

    Very often, many Christians separate the spiritual life from the daily life. It is believed that you can pray in the morning at home or in the temple, and then go to the service and perform your duties somehow, or even engage in dishonest labor and violate the laws. In this case, a person inflicts double spiritual harm on himself: on the one hand, his prayer will be blasphemy, and on the other hand, a violation of rules or legislative norms will sooner or later not go unnoticed.

    Important: any person who asks the Mother of God for help in work and affairs must, for his part, do everything possible so that his activities are honest and do no harm to anyone.

    If, for some reason, a person’s work goes beyond the limits of decency and honesty, such work must be changed, despite the possibly high income. It is unacceptable for an Orthodox person to violate human and spiritual laws for the sake of profit or enrichment. Moreover, in any case, the time will come when violations will manifest themselves and one will have to answer for them both before people and before God.

    How to ask the Virgin for help in work

    There is a popular belief that for certain things you need to pray to a certain saint or in front of a certain icon. This is a misconception about Christianity that distorts the true meaning of faith. A person can turn to the saint who is most revered in the family, or is the heavenly patron of the one who prays, or to whom the soul of a person simply lies. You can ask for anything, the main thing is the inner mood and faith.

    The same applies to the prayer to the Mother of God for success in work. Many people think that it is necessary to find one miraculous icon and pray only in front of it, and the conversion in front of other images will be invalid. In fact, the Queen of Heaven is one for all eternity, and a large number of her icons have been given to us to strengthen our faith.

    To read the prayer to the Mother of God for success in work, you can choose absolutely any image of her, located at home or in the temple, and stand in front of him. You can apply both in your own words, and use ready-made texts from the prayer book bought in the temple.

    Important: beware of dubious texts that are not included in the official church prayer books, as they may be compiled by opponents of the Christian faith and may be of an occult nature.

    In addition to a personal appeal to the Mother of God, you can participate in church services. Every Orthodox Christian must attend the church and participate in services at least on Sundays and public holidays. In addition, you can order special prayers. These small rites are served at individual requests of parishioners in any special situations or difficulties.

    When submitting a note for the Liturgy or a prayer service, it should be remembered that it is highly desirable for a person to attend this service himself. It is wrong to think that it is possible to order this or that requirement, and let the clergy themselves pray, without the participation of a person. There will be very little benefit from such notes. Only a person's personal involvement in spiritual life, participation in divine services and Church Sacraments, sincere confession and acceptance of Christ's Holy Sacraments can truly change life for the better.

As if he will deliver you from the net of hunters and from the words of rebellious ones; His splash will overshadow you, you hope under His wings His truth will be your weapon. Not a slaughter from the fear of the night, from an arrow flying in the days, from a thing in darkness coming, from a scum and a demon at noon. A thousand will fall from your country, and the darkness at your right hand, but it will not come near you, either look at your eyes and see the reward of sinners. For you, O Lord, are my hope; you have made your refuge in the Highest. Evil will not come to you, and the wound will not come near your body, as if commanding your angels about you, keep you in all your ways. they will take you in their hands, but not when you stumble your foot on a stone, step on the asp and the basilisk, and cross the lion and the serpent. I am in affliction, I will crush him and glorify him, I will fulfill him with length of days, I love him my salvation."

    Reverend Moses Murin

    Oh, the great power of repentance! O immeasurable depth of God's mercy! You, Reverend Moses, were formerly a robber. You were horrified by your sins, grieved over them, and in repentance came to the monastery, and there, in great lamentation for your iniquities and in difficult deeds, you spent your days until your death and were rewarded with Christ's grace of forgiveness and the gift of miracles. Oh, reverend, from grave sins he achieved wonderful virtues, help the slaves (name) praying to you, who are drawn to death from the fact that they indulge in immeasurable, harmful to the soul and body, the use of wine. Incline your merciful eyes on them, do not reject or despise them, but listen to them who come running to you. Moth, holy Moses, Lord of Christ, that He, the Merciful, not reject them, and may the devil not rejoice at their death, but may the Lord spare these powerless and unfortunate (name), who were possessed by the destructive passion of drunkenness, because we are all God's creations and redeemed by the Most Pure By the blood of his Son. Hear, Reverend Moses, their prayer, drive away the devil from them, grant them the power to overcome their passion, help them, stretch out your hand, lead them out of the slavery of passions and deliver them from drinking wine, so that they are renewed, in sobriety and a bright mind, love abstinence and piety and eternally glorified the All-good God, who always saves his creatures. Amen".

    Symbol of faith

    "I believe in the One God the Father, the Almighty, the Creator of heaven and earth, Visible to all and invisible, in the One Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Only Begotten, Who, from the Father, born before all ages; Light from Light, God is true and from God is true , was born, not created, consubstantial with the Father, by Him all things were. He descended from heaven for the sake of man and ours for the sake of salvation and became incarnate from the Holy Spirit and Mary the Virgin, and became human. Crucified for us under Pontius Pilate and suffered and was buried. And rose again on the third day according to Scripture. And ascended into heaven, sitting at the right hand of the Father. And wakes up the future with the living and the dead, His Kingdom will have no end. And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Life-Giving One, who proceeds from the Father. and glorify the one who spoke the prophets. Into the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. I confess one baptism for the remission of sins. I tea the Resurrection of the dead and the life of the world to come. Amen."

    Prayer of spouses without children

    “Hear us, Merciful and Almighty God, that Thy grace be sent down by our prayer. Be merciful, Lord, to our prayer, remember Thy law on the multiplication of the human race and be a merciful Patron, that by Thy help the established by Thee will be preserved. He created everything from nothing and laid the foundation for everything in the world that exists - He also created man in His image and sanctified the union of matrimony with a high mystery as a foreshadowing of the mystery of Christ's unity with the Church. may Thy mercy be upon us, may we be fruitful, and may we see our sons even to the third and fourth generation, and to the desired old age, live and enter the Kingdom of Heaven by the grace of our Lord Jesus Christ, to whom all glory, honor and worship is due Holy Spirit forever, Amen."

    The gospel of the future veneration of the Virgin Mary: “And Mary said: My soul magnifies the Lord, and My spirit rejoiced in God, My Savior, that He looked down on the humility of His Servant, for from now on all generations will please Me; that the Mighty One has done me greatness, and His name is holy; and His mercy throughout generations to those who fear Him; He showed the strength of His arm; He scattered the haughty with the thoughts of their heart; He brought down the mighty from their thrones, and exalted the humble; He filled the hungry with good things, and sent the rich away with nothing; took Israel, His servant remembering mercy, as he spoke to our fathers, to Abraham and his seed forever" (Luke 1:46-55).

    Third Prayer to the Most Holy Theotokos

    Undefiled, Neblazny, Imperishable, Most Pure, Not Bride of the Bride of God, Mother of God Mary, Lady of the World and My Hope! Look upon me, a sinner, at this hour, and from Thy pure blood unskillfully gave birth to the Lord Jesus Christ, be merciful to me, make Thy motherly prayers; That ripe one is condemned and wounded with a weapon of sadness in the heart, wound my soul with Divine love! Togo, in chains and reproach, the highlander mourned, grant me tears of contrition; with the free passage of that to death, the soul was seriously ill, free me from illness, but I glorify Thee, worthy of glory forever. Amen.

    Fourth Prayer to the Most Holy Theotokos

    Intercessor zealous, compassionate Mother of the Lord! I resort to You, accursed and most sinful person above all: heed the voice of my prayer, and hear my cry and groaning. Like my iniquity, having surpassed my head, and I, like a ship in the abyss, I plunge into the sea of my sins. But You, All-good and Merciful Lady, do not despise me, desperate and perishing in sins; have mercy on me, who repent of my evil deeds, and turn my deceived, accursed soul to the right path. On You, my Lady Mother of God, I place all my hope. You, Mother of God, save and keep me under Your shelter, now and forever and forever and ever. Amen.

    Prayer Fifth to the Most Holy Theotokos

    Most Holy Lady Theotokos, the one pure in soul and body, the one who exceeded all purity, chastity and virginity, the one who completely became the abode of the entire grace of the Holy Spirit, the most immaterial forces here still incomparably surpassed the purity and holiness of soul and body, look at me vile, impure soul and the body of the one who blackened my life with the filthy passions, cleanse my passionate mind, make immaculate and well-order my wandering and blind thoughts, put my feelings in order and guide them, free me from the evil and vile habit that torments me to impure prejudices and passions, stop every sin acting in me, grant sobriety and prudence to my darkened and cursed mind to correct my creeps and falls, so that, freed from sinful darkness, I would be able to boldly glorify and hymn you, the only Mother of the true Light - Christ, our God; because every invisible and visible creature blesses and glorifies you alone with Him and in Him, now, and always, and forever and ever. Amen.

    Near Alexandria, on papyrus No. 470 from the library of J. Rylands, the earliest known text of the prayer to the Virgin was found. The papyrus dates back to the year 250 and contains a prayer in Greek, which is still used during Orthodox worship: "We run under Your mercy, Virgin Mother of God, do not despise our prayers in sorrows, but deliver us from troubles, One pure and blessed." This find is interesting because, firstly, it confirms the veneration and prayers of the Mother of God among the early Christians, and secondly, it confirms the ancient use of the term Θεοτόκος (Mother of God).

O Holy Mother of God! You, "Joy of All Who Sorrow", hear me, the mournful; You, called "Assuagement of Sorrow", quench my sorrow as well; You, "Burning Kupino", save the world and all of us from the harmful fiery arrows of the enemy; You, "Seeker of the Lost", do not let me perish in the abyss of my sins. On Tya, according to Bose, all my hope and hope. Be my Intercessor in my temporary life, and about eternal life before Your Beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ, Intercessor. Teach me to serve that with faith and love, but to you, Most Holy Mother of God, Blessed Mary, reverently honor until the end of my days. Amen.

    Prayers to the Most Holy Theotokos:

    • Song of the Most Holy Theotokos "Virgin Mother of God, rejoice ..."
    • Song of the Most Holy Theotokos "It is worthy to eat, as if truly blessed by Thee ..."

    The "Mother of God rule" is the reading of the Archangel greeting 150 times a day: " Virgin Mary, rejoice Blessed Mary, the Lord is with you, blessed are you in women and blessed is the Fruit of your womb, as if you gave birth to our souls as the Savior!
    There is a church tradition that the Queen of Heaven Herself gave people this rule in the 8th century, and it was once performed by all Christians, but over time it was forgotten.

    The Monk Seraphim of Sarov recalled this rule, instructing to walk along the groove circled around the Diveevo monastery, reading 150 times " Virgin Mary, rejoice…»

    In the cell of the elder, they found an old book with a description of miracles that happen to people who fulfill this rule of reading 150 times the Archangel's joy to the Queen of Heaven.

    In his conversation with Motovilov about the goal of the Christian life, St. Seraphim of Sarov said:
    “Although the enemy the devil seduced Eve and Adam fell with her, the Lord not only gave them the Redeemer in the fruit of the wife’s seed, who corrected death by death, but also gave us all in the Ever-Virgin Wife, the Theotokos Mary, who erased in herself and in the whole human race the head the serpent, the unrelenting Intercessor to His Son and our God, the shameless and irresistible Intercessor even for the most desperate sinners. Therefore, the Mother of God is called the Plague of Demons, for there is no possibility for a demon to destroy a person, if only the person himself does not retreat from resorting to the help of the Mother of God.
    Many shepherds of a high spiritual life fulfilled the Theotokos rule themselves and blessed their spiritual children for this work.
    Here is an excerpt from a letter from the meekest father Alexander (Gumanovsky), in monasticism Daniel, nicknamed for his love and constant service to the Ever-Virgin Mary the Mother of God: “I forgot to offer you essential saving advice. Read daily 150 times "Virgin Virgin", and this prayer will save you. This rule was given by the Mother of God Herself around the 7th century, and it was once fulfilled by all Christians. We Orthodox have forgotten about it, and St. Seraphim reminds us of this rule. I have in my hands a handwritten book from the cell of St. Seraphim with a description of many miracles through prayer to the Mother of God, and in particular from reading 150 times "The Virgin Mary". If, out of habit, it will be difficult to overcome 150 times daily, read 50 times at the beginning. After every ten, read once "Our Father" and "Open the doors of Mercy for us." Whoever spoke about this miraculous rule, everyone remained grateful.
    Bishop Seraphim (Zvezdinsky), now glorified in the host of the Holy New Martyrs and Confessors of Russia, daily performed the Theotokos Rule and knew from his own experience its mighty power.

    In 1926 Vladyka Seraphim (Zvezdinsky) lived in the Diveevo Monastery. During the winter, he lived in the rooms of Elena Ivanovna Motovilova, in their building, behind the "groove". Abbess Alexandra reassured: “Live in peace, the Bolsheviks will not touch this place. The Monk Seraphim said that the groove would become a wall from earth to heaven, and the Antichrist would not cross it.” “You misunderstand the words of the Reverend,” answered Vladyka. - He taught to read one and a half hundred times “Virgin Mother of God, rejoice ...” and said: “Whoever fulfills this rule, the soul of that and the Antichrist will never overcome.”

    Here is what he wrote from exile to his spiritual children: “I am making a long and long journey with transfers, tedious stops. But all this way from Melenki to Moscow, from Moscow to Alma-Ata, from Alma-Ata to Uralsk, coming from Uralsk to Guryev on the Caspian Sea, is a wondrous and unforgettable way. In short, this is the path of miracles from reading 150 times “Virgin Mother of God, rejoice!” Sometimes it seems that the Lord deliberately sent me this way in order to show me with my own eyes how strong the prayer of His Most Pure Mother is before Him and how effective the Archangelic greeting brought to Her with faith: “O Virgin Mother of God, rejoice!”. I believe and confess, as if I know, as never before, on the path I am making now, all the warmth, all the protection, all the cover of this wonderful greeting “Virgin Mother of God, rejoice!” This appeal in the most impassable places paved the way for me with my faithful companions, in hopeless circumstances gave a way out, disposed those who were not disposed to me, repeatedly softened evil hearts, and burned and shamed those who did not soften. Like they disappear like smoke. Archangel greeting "Our Lady of the Virgin, rejoice!" complete helplessness suddenly gave unexpected help and, moreover, from such a side, from where it was impossible to expect in any way, not to mention the inner world in the midst of storms, the inner order in the surrounding disorder from this greeting of the Archangel, righteously moved by the wrath of God, it removes from our head and the very the verdict of the Judge-Heart-Keeper cancels. O great boldness! O terrible intercession! It withdraws from the fire of passions, from the bottom of the fall, grief to heaven delights. Protect yourself more often and more diligently, my dear children, with this indestructible wall, with this indestructible fence “Virgin Mother of God, rejoice!” With this prayer we will not perish in any way, we will not burn in the fire, we will not drown in the sea. If Satan, who hates us, stumbles us on our path and knocks us down, then even then the Archangelic greeting, sending up, rise up, rise up good, darkened ones will be enlightened, the sick in soul will be healed, polluted by sin, we will be cleansed and whitened, like snow with purity, by the prayer “Higher heaven and the purest lordships of the sun. The dead, killed by passions, let us rise, let us live, and in the ecstasy of the spirit we will cry out: “Christ is risen! He is truly risen!"

    Orthodox veneration of the Mother of God

    The Orthodox Church contains about the Theotokos what Holy Tradition and Holy Scripture have reported about Her, and daily glorifies Her in her churches, asking Her for help and protection. Knowing that She is pleased only with those praises that correspond to Her real glory, the holy fathers and hymn-writers of Herself and Her Son prayed to instruct them how to sing to Her: “Shield my thoughts, my Christ, for I dare to praise Your Pure Mother” ( Ikos of the Dormition). “The Church teaches that Christ was truly born of the Ever-Virgin Mary” (St. Epiphanius of Cyprus. A true word about faith). “We need to confess that the Holy Ever-Virgin Mary really is the Mother of God, so as not to fall into blasphemy. For those who deny that the Holy Virgin really is the Theotokos are no longer faithful, but disciples of the Pharisees and Sadducees” (St. Ephraim the Syrian to Monk John).

    It is known from Tradition that Mary was the daughter of the elderly Joachim and Anna, moreover, Joachim came from the royal family of David, and Anna from the priestly family. Despite such a noble origin, they were poor. However, this did not sadden these righteous people, but the fact that they did not have children and could not hope that their descendant would see the Messiah. And so, when one day, despised by the Jews for their barrenness, both of them, in sorrow of soul, offered up prayers to God, Joachim on the mountain, where he retired after the priest did not want to offer his sacrifice in the temple, and Anna in her garden, mourning her barrenness , then an angel appeared to them, and said that they would give birth to a daughter. Overjoyed, they promised to dedicate their child to God.
    After 9 months, their daughter was born, named Maria, from early childhood she showed the best spiritual qualities. When She was three years old, her parents, fulfilling their promise, solemnly led the little Mary to the Jerusalem temple, Who herself ascended the high steps, and by the High Priest who met Her, by the revelation of God, she was led into the Most Holy of Holies, taking with Her the grace of God that had rested on her. in a hitherto graceless temple (Kontakion of the Introduction. It was a newly built temple, into which the glory of God did not descend, as in the Tabernacle or the Solomons). She settled in the premises for virgins that existed at the temple, but she spent so much time in prayer in the Holy of Holies that, one might say, she lived in it (Stichera of the Introduction, on "Lord I cried" 2nd and on "Glory and now"). Adorned with all the virtues, She set an example of an extraordinarily pure life. Submissive and obedient to all, She did not offend anyone, did not say a rude word to anyone, was friendly to everyone, did not even allow a bad thought. (Abbreviated from St. Ambrose of Milan. On the Ever-Virginity of the Virgin Mary).

    “Despite the righteousness and purity of the life that the Mother of God led, sin and eternal death manifested their presence in Her. They could not but manifest themselves: such is the exact and true teaching of the Orthodox Church about the Mother of God in relation to original sin and death ”(Bishop Ignatius Brianchaninov. Exposition of the teaching of the Orthodox Church about the Mother of God). “Alien from a sinful fall” (St. Ambrose of Milan. Interpretation of Ps. 118). She was not a stranger to sinful temptations. “After all, God alone is without sin” (St. Ambrose of Milan. Ibid), and a person will always have in himself what still needs to be corrected and improved in order to fulfill God’s commandment: “Be holy, for I am holy, the Lord your God” (Lev. 19:2). The purer and more perfect someone is, the more he notices his imperfections and the more unworthy he considers himself.

    The Virgin Mary, who gave herself entirely to God, although she repelled from herself every inclination to sin, felt the weakness of human nature more than others and ardently desired the coming of the Savior. She in humility considered herself unworthy to be and a servant of the Virgin who had to give birth to Him. So that nothing would distract Her from prayer and attention to Herself, Mary gave God a vow of celibacy in order to please Him only throughout Her life. Betrothed to Elder Joseph, when Her years did not allow Her to stay at the temple anymore, She settled in his house in Nazareth. Here the Virgin was honored with the arrival of the Archangel Gabriel, who announced to Her the birth of the Most High from Her. “Rejoice, blessed one: the Lord is with you. Blessed are You among women... The Holy Spirit will come upon You and the power of the Most High will overshadow You; the same and that which is born Holy shall be called the Son of God” (Luke 1:28-35).

    Humblely and submissively Mary accepted the angelic gospel. “Then the Word, as He Himself knows, descended and, as He Himself willed, moved, entered into Mary and dwelt in Her” (St. Ephraim the Syrian. Laudatory Song of the Mother of God). “Just as lightning illuminates the hidden, so Christ purifies the hidden nature. He cleansed the Virgin, and then was born to show that where Christ is, purity is manifested in all its strength. He cleansed the Virgin, having prepared it with the Holy Spirit, and then the womb, becoming pure, conceives Him. He cleansed the Virgin with Her purity, and therefore, having been born, he left the Virgin. I do not say that Mary became immortal, but that, illuminated by grace, She was not indignant at sinful desires. (St. Ephraim the Syrian. Word on heretics, 41). “The light settled in Her, washed Her mind, made Her thoughts pure, made Her cares chaste, sanctified Her virginity” (St. Ephraim the Syrian, Mary and Eve). “He made the pure, according to human concepts, gracefully pure” (Bishop Ignatius Brianchaninov. Presentation of the teaching of the Orthodox Church about the Mother of God).

    Mary did not tell anyone about the appearance of the Angel, but the Angel himself announced to Joseph about the miraculous conception of Mary from the Holy Spirit (Matt. 1:18-25), and after the birth of Christ, with a multitude of heavenly hosts, he announced the gospel to the shepherds. The shepherds, having come to worship the Newborn, said that they had heard about Him. Having previously silently endured suspicion, Mary now silently listened and "took into her heart" the words of the greatness of her Son (Luke 2:8-19). After 40 days, She heard Simeon's prayer of praise and a prediction about a weapon that would pass through Her soul. Afterward, she saw how Jesus grew in wisdom, heard Him teaching in the temple at the age of 12, and “kept everything ... in her heart” (Luke 2:21-51).

    Although grace-filled, She did not yet fully understand what the ministry and greatness of Her Son would consist of. Jewish concepts of the Messiah were still close to Her, and natural feelings forced Her to take care of Him, protecting Him from seemingly excessive labors and dangers. Therefore, involuntarily, at first, She stood in the way of Her Son, which caused His indication of the superiority of spiritual kinship over bodily (Matt. 12:46-49). “He had care for the honor of the Mother, but much more about Her spiritual salvation and the good of people, for which he put on the flesh” (John Chrysostom. Commentary on the Gospel of John, conversation 12). Mary understood this, and “hearing the speech of God, she kept it” (Luke 11:27-28). Like no other person, She had the same feelings as Christ (Philippians 2:5), meekly enduring maternal sorrow when she saw Her Son persecuted and suffering. Rejoicing on the day of the Resurrection, on the day of Pentecost she was clothed with power from on high (Luke 24:49). The Holy Spirit descended on Her “taught her everything” (John 14:26), and “instructed her into all truth” (John 16:13). Enlightened, She began to work even more zealously to do what She heard from Her Son and Redeemer, in order to ascend to Him and be with Him.

    The end of the earthly life of the Most Holy Theotokos is the beginning of Her greatness. “Beautified with Divine glory” (Irmos of the canon of the Dormition), She stands, will stand both on the day of the Last Judgment and in the next century, at the right hand of the Throne of Her Son, reigns with Him and has boldness towards Him, as His Mother in the flesh and as one in spirit as having done the will of God and taught others (Matthew 5:19). Loving and merciful, She manifests her love for Her Son and Her God in love for the human race, intercedes for it before the Gracious and, bypassing the earth, helps people.

    Having experienced all the hardships of earthly life, the Intercessor of the Christian race sees every tear, hears every moaning and prayer addressed to Her. Especially close to Her are those who work in the fight against passions and are zealous for a charitable life. But even in everyday cares She is an indispensable helper. “Joy of all those who grieve, and the offended Intercessor, and the hungry Nurse, strange Consolation, overwhelmed Shelter, the sick Visitation, the weak Veil and Intercessor, the Wand of old age, the Mother of the Most High God, Thou art the Most Pure” (Stikhira Hodegetria). “Hope, and intercession, and the refuge of Christians”, in “prayers the unsleeping Mother of God” (Kontakion of the Assumption), “saving the world with her unceasing prayer” (Theotokos of the 3rd voice), “day and night she prays for us and the scepters of the Kingdom are affirmed by Her prayers "(Everyday Midnight Office).

    There is no mind and words to express the greatness of the One Who was born in a sinful human race, but became the Most Honorable Cherubim and the most glorious Seraphim. “The unspeakable Divine and Divine mysteries in vain in the Virgin, the grace manifested and fulfilled clearly, I rejoice and understand the image, I am perplexed, strange and ineffable, as the chosen Pure one appears more than all creatures visible and understandable. Even though I praise This, I am terribly horrified, but with my mind and word, both daring, I preach and magnify: This is a heavenly village ”(Ikos of the Entry into the Temple). “Every language is perplexed to praise according to its property, but the mind and the most peaceful sing to You, Mother of God, both, Good being, accept the faith, for we weigh our Divine love: You are the Christian representative, We magnify You” (Irmos of the 9th song of the Epiphany).

    This article contains: the main prayer to the Blessed Virgin Mary - the information is taken from all corners of the world, the electronic network and spiritual people.

    To whom shall I cry, Lady? To whom shall I resort in my sorrow, if not to Thee, Queen of Heaven? Who will receive my weeping and my sighing, if not You, Immaculate One, the hope of Christians and the refuge of us sinners? Who else will protect you in misfortune? Hear my groaning and incline Your ear to me, the Lady of the Mother of my God, and do not despise me, demanding Your help, and do not reject me, a sinner. Reason and teach me, Queen of Heaven; do not depart from me, Thy servant, Lady, for my murmuring, but wake me Mother and Intercessor. I entrust myself to Your merciful protection: bring me, a sinner, to a quiet and serene life, and cry for my sins. To whom shall I resort guilty, if not to Thee, the hope and refuge of sinners, with hope for Thy inexpressible mercy and Thy bounty we enshrine? O Lady, Queen of Heaven! You are my hope and refuge, cover and intercession and help. My Queen, Favorable and quick Intercessor, cover my sins with Your intercession, protect me from enemies visible and invisible; soften the hearts of evil people who rise up against me. O Mother of the Lord my Creator! You are the root of virginity and the unfading color of purity. Oh Mother of God! Give me help to those who are weak with carnal passions and who are sick of the heart, for Yours alone and with You Your Son and our God imam intercession; and by Your wonderful intercession, may I be delivered from all misfortune and misfortune, O Immaculate and Most Glorious Mother of God Mary. The same with hope, I say and cry: Rejoice, Blessed One; rejoice, overjoyed; Rejoice, Blessed One: The Lord is with you!

    My Tsarina Preblagaya, my hope, Mother of God, Friend of orphans and strange Representatives, grieving Joy, offended Patron! See my misfortune, see my sorrow, help me, as if I am weak, feed me, as if strange. I’ll offend my weight, resolve it, as if you will: if I don’t have another help for You, or another Representative, or a good Comforter, only You, O Bogomati, as if you save me and cover me forever and ever. Amen.

    O Blessed Virgin, Mother of the Lord Most High, Intercessor and Protector of all who resort to You! Look from the height of Your saints on me, a sinner (name), falling to Your pure image; hear my warm prayer and bring it before your Beloved Son, our Lord Jesus Christ; pray to Him, may it illuminate my gloomy soul with the light of His Divine grace, may it deliver me from all need, sorrow and illness, may it send me a quiet and peaceful life, health of body and soul, may my suffering heart die and heal its wounds, may it instruct me for good deeds, let my mind be cleansed from vain thoughts, but having taught me the fulfillment of His commandments, let it deliver from eternal torment and let it not deprive me of His Kingdom of Heaven. O Holy Mother of God! You, “Joy of All Who Sorrow,” hear me, the mournful one; You, called "Assuagement of Sorrow", quench my sorrow as well; You, “Burning Kupino”, save the world and all of us from the harmful fiery arrows of the enemy; You, "Seeker of the Lost", do not let me perish in the abyss of my sins. Amen.

    The Virgin, the Mistress of the Mother of God, more than nature and words, gave birth to the only begotten Word of God, the Creator and Master of all visible and invisible creatures, the One from the Trinity of God, God and Man, who became the abode of the Divine, the receptacle of all holiness and grace, in which, by the good pleasure of God and the Father , with the assistance of the Holy Spirit, the Fullness of the Godhead dwelt bodily; incomparably exalted with divine dignity and prevailing over every creature, Glory and Consolation, and the inexpressible joy of the Angels, the royal crown of the apostles and prophets, the miraculous and miraculous courage of the martyrs, the Defender in exploits and the Giver of victory, who prepares for the ascetics crowns and rewards eternal and divine, honor and the glory of the saints, the infallible Pathfinder and Mentor of silence, the door of revelations and spiritual secrets, the Source of Light, the gates of eternal life, the inexhaustible river of mercy, the inexhaustible sea of all divine gifts and miracles, we ask You and implore You, most compassionate Mother of the philanthropic Master, be merciful to us , humble and unworthy of Your servants, look graciously at our captivity and humility, heal the crushing of our souls and bodies, scatter visible and invisible enemies, be for us, unworthy, before the face of our enemies a strong pillar, a battle weapon, a strong militia, Voyevoda and invincible Defender, now show us ancient and Thy wonderful mercy, that our lawless enemies may know that Thy Son and God is one and the King and Master, that Thou art truly the Theotokos, who gave birth in the flesh to the true God, that all things are possible to Thee, and whatever thou desirest, O Lady, thou hast the power to do all this in Heaven and on earth, and for every request to grant what is useful to someone: health to the sick, silence and good navigation on the sea. Travel and protect those who travel, save the captives from bitter slavery, console the sad, alleviate poverty and all other bodily suffering: free everyone from spiritual illnesses and passions, through Your invisible intercessions and suggestions, so that, having well and unstumblingly made the path of this temporary life, we would improve through You and these eternal blessings in the Kingdom of Heaven. Faithful, honored by the terrible name of Thy Only Begotten Son, who trust in Thy intercession and in Thy mercy, and in everything who have Thee as their Intercessor and Champion, strengthen invisibly against the surrounding enemies, dispel the cloud of despondency that envelops their souls, deliver them from spiritual conditions and give them light complacency and joy, restoring peace and serenity in their hearts. Save with Your prayers, the Lady, this flock, predominantly dedicated to You, the whole city and country, from hunger, earthquake, drowning, fire, sword, invasion of foreigners, internecine warfare, and turn away every anger righteously moved against us, by the goodwill and grace of the only-begotten Son and Thy God, to Him befits all glory, honor and worship, with His Father Without Beginning, with His Co-eternal and Life-Giving Spirit, now and always, and forever and ever. Amen.

    Oh, Lady! May it not be in vain and in vain that we call Thee the Mistress: reveal and manifest Thy holy, living, active dominion over us. Reveal, for you can do everything for good, as the Mother of the all-good of the all-good King; disperse the darkness of our hearts, reflect the arrows of crafty spirits, flatteringly moved at us. May the peace of Thy Son, Thy peace reign in our hearts, may we all joyfully exclaim: who is after the Lord, like our Lady, our all-good, all-merciful and most swift Intercessor? For this you are exalted, Mistress, for that an abundance of indescribable divine grace has been given to you, for that inexpressible boldness and strength at the throne of God and the gift of almighty prayer have been given to you, for this you have been adorned with indescribable holiness and purity, for this you have been given unapplied power from the Lord, so that you can preserve, protect, intercede, purify and save us, the inheritance of your Son and God, and yours. Save us, O most pure, all-good, all-wise and all-merciful! You are the Mother of our Savior, Who of all names deigned to be called the Savior more than anyone else. It is natural for us, wandering in this life, to fall, for we are overlaid with many-passionate flesh, surrounded by spirits of malice in high places, seducing to sin, we live in an adulterous and sinful world, seducing to sin; and You are above all sin, You are the brightest Sun, You are the Most Pure, All-good and All-pleasing, It is Your nature to purify us, defiled by sins, as a mother cleanses her children, if we call on You humbly for help, You tend to raise us, who are constantly falling, to intercede to protect and save us, who are slandered by the spirits of evil, and to instruct us to walk towards every path of salvation.

    What to pray to You, what to ask of You? You see everything, you know Itself: look into my soul and give her what she needs. You, who have endured everything, overcome everything, you will understand everything. You, who raised the Child in a manger and accepted Him with Your hands from the Cross, You alone know the whole height of joy, all the oppression of grief. You, who received the whole human race as an adoption, look at me with maternal care. Lead me from the shadows of sin to Your Son. I see a tear that irrigated Your face. It's over me You spilled it and let it wash away the traces of my sins. Here I have come, I am standing, I am waiting for Your response, O Mother of God, O All-Singing, O Mistress! I don't ask for anything, I just stand before You. Only my heart, a poor human heart, exhausted in anguish for truth, I cast down to Your Most Pure Feet, Lady! May all who call upon You reach the eternal day with You and bow down before You face to face.

Amen.

    Prayers to the Most Holy Theotokos

    The ancient world has been waiting for the arrival of the Savior for a very long time. And the whole Old Testament is saturated with this idea. But why did the Messiah not appear in the human world for so long!? The thing is that only a woman who would be ready for the great feat of self-denial and infinite love could give birth to the Son of God. She had to completely entrust her life to God and agree to the virgin birth of her Son. Centuries passed, and only when the Virgin Mary was born did this become possible.

    Who is the Holy Mother of God

    The Mother of God is the most humble and pure Virgin that has ever been born on earth.

    In Christian denominations, Saint Mary is called differently:

    • Virgin or Ever-Virgin, because Mary in her service to God remained a virgin and the conception of God's Son was blameless;
    • Mother of God, because she is the Mother of the Son of God in earthly life;
    • A quick listener, since Mary humbly accepted the command of God to give birth to a Son from the Holy Spirit.

    Holy Scripture about the Mother of God

    The Holy Scripture contains a description of only a few episodes in the life of the Most Holy Theotokos, which reveal her personality. All information about the life of the Mother of God can be found only in Church Tradition, which contains ancient legends and church-historical writings.

    The main information about the birth of the Most Holy Theotokos is contained in the "First Gospel of James", written approximately in 150 after R. H. The Virgin Mary was born in the family of the righteous Joachim from Nazareth and Anna from Bethlehem. The parents of the Virgin Mary were descendants of noble royal families. They lived together in harmony until old age, but God never gave them children. But the time came and their piety was noted by the Almighty and the Angel told them the good news that soon they would have a noble daughter.

    The next important event in the life of the future Mother of God is the moment when a three-year-old girl was brought by her parents to the Temple in Jerusalem for dedication to God. The little girl climbed fifteen steps on her own, and the high priest Zachary came out to meet her, who was instructed from above to lead the girl deep into the sanctuary, where none of the believers had the right to enter.

    At the age of 14, the Virgin Mary independently decided to devote her whole life to God and made a vow of virginity. At the same time, she was betrothed to the elder Joseph, who came from the royal family of David through Solomon. They lived in Nazareth and the betrothed took care of the Virgin Mary, provided for her and protected her if necessary.

    About the Annunciation, when the Holy Archangel Gabriel was sent by God to the Blessed Virgin Mary with the good news of the birth of the Son, St. Luke narrates in his revelations. With great humility and humility, the young woman accepted the news that she was to become the Mother of God. An angel also appeared to Joseph and said that the Virgin Mary had conceived from the Holy Spirit. And the husband accepted the command of God to accept the Mother of God as his wife.

    When the time came for the end of earthly life, the Archangel Gabriel descended from heaven to the Holy Mother of God during her prayer on the Mount of Olives. In his hands he held a heavenly date branch. He said that in three days the earthly life of the Most Holy Theotokos would end and the Lord would take her to him.

    And so it happened. At the moment of death, an unusual light illuminated the room where the Virgin Mary was. And Jesus Christ himself appeared surrounded by Angels and received the soul of the Virgin. The body of the Most Pure One was buried in a cave at the foot of the Mount of Olives, where her parents had previously been buried.

    Introduction to the Church of the Holy Mother of God

    On December 4, believers celebrate a great church holiday - the introduction of the Holy Mother of God into the temple. It is on this day that the moment is celebrated when Mary was given by her parents to the service of God. On the very first day, the high priest Zachary took the girl to the sanctuary, where she could subsequently go every year on December 4th. The girl spent 12 years in the temple, after which she independently decided to preserve her virginity in the name of serving God.

    The significant day began to be celebrated by the Church from ancient times. This is due to the fact that thanks to the introduction of parents into the Temple, the Virgin Mary began her journey of serving God, which allowed people on earth to receive their Savior. Services are held in all churches on this day. Prayers uttered on this day by believers give praise to the Ever-Virgin Mary and ask for the intercession of the Mother of God before the Almighty for every prayer.

    Of course, such a great holiday, associated with a significant event in the church world, is reflected in icon painting. On the icons dedicated to the Introduction, the Virgin Mary is always depicted in the center. Other actors are the parents on the one hand and the high priest Zachary who meets the girl. Often the icons depict the steps to the Temple, it was them that little Mary overcame without anyone's help.

    In the calendar cycle, this church holiday coincides with the end of the autumn season and the beginning of the winter period.

    The Russian Orthodox people also celebrated on this day:

    • Holiday of a young family;
    • Opening the gate in winter;
    • Importation.

    Folk signs on this day:

    • After this day, it was forbidden to dig the earth in the street, so women had to take care to stock up on clay for domestic needs;
    • From that day until the ninth Thursday, rolling pins were not to be used to beat out linen, otherwise bad weather might be caused;
    • On a holiday, it was forbidden to engage in work related to beating and friction, it was impossible to clean and dig the ground.

    Since this is a great religious holiday, it was necessary to spend it in harmony and peace with the surrounding people. It is very good on this day to invite close friends to visit or go to visit them. Since the Introduction always falls on the Advent, on this day it was allowed to diversify the table with fish dishes and drink some wine.
